LASIK St. Louis

What if you can’t have LASIK? Introducing Visian ICL.

There are times when patients aren’t able to have LASIK, due to their thin corneas or they are too nearsighted. Now, there is an alternative to LASIK – the FDA approved Visian ICL™, Implantable Collamer Lens.

Pepose Vision Institute is very experienced with Visian ICL (and other lens implants, as well).

We often recommend the Visian ICL because:

  • The procedure is very quick and comfortable. After a painless 15-minute outpatient procedure, most patients experience an immediate improvement in vision quality, producing the“WOW” effect!

  • Due to the very small size of the incision required, healing is rapid and any minimal grittiness generally resolves within one or 2 days.

  • High quality of vision – The Visian ICL not only improves your visual acuity, but it also enhances your quality of vision by producing sharp, vivid vision with greater depth and, dimension. These are the unique advantages that define what we call “High Definition Visian™.”

  • Visian ICL is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved as safe and effective for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe nearsightedness (myopia) ; over 400,000 ICLs have been successfully implanted in over 20 countries!

  • The Visian ICL has been embraced by the U.S. military because of the lens’ reliable visual clarity.

If you aren't a good candidate for LASIK your surgeon will thoroughly explain Visian ICL and any other options that might be available to help you enhance your vision.

Visian ICLs are clear implantable lenses that are surgically placed just behind the iris, without removing your natural lens. These lenses enable light to focus properly on the retina for clearer vision without corrective eyewear. Implantable lenses function like contact lenses to correct nearsightedness. The difference is that they work from within your eye instead of sitting on the surface of your eye and are permanent (ICLs can be safely removed in later years).  And unlike contact lenses, you can't feel these lens in your eye (much like you don't feel a dental filling for a cavity) and, apart from regular eye exams, they do not require any maintenance. The ICLs even offer UV protection and anti-refletivity.
